Spencer Park Trip

On March the 10th, some of the classes in Hornby Primary went to a trip in Spencer Park. I learnt some things and I also enjoyed being there. If you want to know more, here is the story, bye!

W.A.L.T Write an information report that informs the audience.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • I use an opening statement that explains the subject of the report.

  • The opening statement is followed by sentences that describe the event; what you saw, what you did, how you felt, what you learnt.
  • Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.
  • A general statement about the topic usually rounds off the report.

On the 10th of March, we (Ako Ngatahi) and some of the other classes from here, went to a trip to Spencer Park. In this trip, we saw many this like cobwebs, horses and many more. We also did a Challenge that was very cool.

First of all in the bus, I was with Khush and Vann on the seat. In there we chatted and laughed too, we also made some jokes and then relax. Then also Vann and I made a bit of a prank, when Khush slept we drew a figured on Khush's cheek and then told him when he woke up while we laugh.

Suddenly, we were there! We were finally at Spencer Park. The first thing we had to do is go to our groups. Before we  went to the bus we were put in groups with the other classes. (I’m in group 1). Then we were put in groups again. Group 1 did the lagoon walk first.
It was a bit tiring because the walk was quite long and the path was “quite muddy” if you may say. We saw some horses on our way, they were very big, and also very tamed, but they don’t really like noises. Also we “saw” some well....you know, “digested food” that comes out of your “rear end”. The weather was really hot, because before we went on that trip, it was raining a bit. At last, we saw the place where you watch the birds at.But I’m gonna say it was a bit boring on the fact that we didn’t see the birds very well, but at least we saw them, and the horses.

Next we returned on the real park and rested for a bit and played on the playground.
Then again, we walked to the next destination. We went to the beach that is in there.

The path was a bit bumpy and also very dusty. There were many dried trees and I think that place was really good for body dumping (jokes). It was really hot, hotter because there were no shades cause the trees were dry, yet thankfully we had our school hats and the wind became a bit cooler.

When we arrived at the beach, we had a choice to take off or keep our shoes on. Well being “cool” that I am I took off my shoes. In the beach we needed to get some beach treasures like drift wood and also some sea shells. We can’t find them so we needed to dig so we can find the treasures, even so we didn’t really find many. Then, after the treasure finding, the teachers and adults decided to do a challenge.

In the challenge we had to make a sandcastle in 5-12 mins. When we finished and they had to decide who won the adult/ teachers didn’t really say which group won, because we had to go back quickly. I tried to put my shoes on but then, my feet were sandy. Well looks who’s “cool” now? I said. I thought, well apparently it’s not me. That is why I had to walk with sandy feet in my shoes.

Still, the path we took after that, was short. Our group, group 1 came back and ate our lunch. Then before we finish, the other groups came and also ate their lunch.

Finally, we finished playing in the playground and then went back to school and the went home. After that trip I learnt many things, but this is my favourite. There are many hunters hideout in there, isn’t that cool? Even though the trip was a bit tiring, I still loved it.
Now after that trip, we are gonna make a sculpture using the “treasures” that we found, so stay tuned.

W.A.L.T Using Decomposition

This week, the stars (our group in maths) reviewed a method that we did last year. Which is "Using Decomposition", it was a method that I normally use to solve subtraction many questions. It is the most easiest method/strategy that I know, except using a calculator (joke). Please let me know if it worked for you, have a good day, bye!

Wetas are invertebrates that had evolved into 70 different species and they lives in New Zealand. This post is about one of the giant weta that have 11 different species and the biggest species is the wetapunga, Any way I hope you find this interesting as I do, bye!

My Best Friend!

In the past weeks our class (Ako Ngatahi) were writing a short story about a video titled “The Present”. It was a story about a boy who got a present and it was a puppy. After he discovered that the puppy only had three legs.

Here is the video, I assume that you might enjoy the video and maybe my writing too bye!

W.A.L.T: Write a narrative

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • The title is suitable for the text.
  • The orientation tells who the story is about, and when and where the story happened.
  • The complication describes a problem and explains what happened next.
  • The resolution explains how the problem was solved.

My Best Friend

When I woke up I rushed to the kitchen and ate my breakfast which was egg, bacon, oatmeal and pancakes but I burnt it ( I don’t know how to cook). After that I stood up and went to the toilet. I rinsed my face with a bit of cold water and while brushing my teeth I was thinking of video games. What were the games that I can play? Then I accidentally swallowed the water that I shouldn't actually swallow.

I went to the living room, the temperature was hot and it was really sunny, so I closed all the curtains so that sunlight would not ruin my sight. Also I turned on the air conditioner.

All of a sudden I remembered those horror movie forests that are very dark and cold like something will jump out of them and said “ Elghr!” while shaking my head fast. I sat down and played the Battlefield, then suddenly my mum appeared with a little box. She placed the box on the table, opened the curtains and said “ that is your present” while pointing to the box with a bit of smile.

My mum works at an office, and I am pretty sure that her work is supposed to translate mangas.

“Mangas” - they are comics like stories that are normally Japanese but can also be translated in some language, they are mostly black and white, yet sometimes it can be coloured.

“Also, why don’t you go outside?” she questioned. I was very irritated and mumbled  ”Aghr” I was annoyed at first but then I got a bit curious like curious George.

I opened the box and saw a puppy. It was very cute, he was creamy brown in colour and had a big black adorable nose, also he was very energetic, but then I saw it only has three legs. I didn’t like it, then I pushed him off my lap and thought how pathetic. I was very angry and struck the box down, and the puppy didn’t know why. The reason that I didn’t like the puppy is because I thought my friends will mock me ( I don’t mind it now because I love my pet ) and I thought it would be lazy because it only has three legs.

Next he tried to steal my attention so I would play with him, yet I kicked him and he stumbled down. It was like a bowling game and he was the bowling ball. He got up and saw a red ball under the drawers, he ran very fast to get it, then …

(Bang!) I looked and saw him, he hit his head on the drawers, he got up like it was nothing and got the ball anyway. He was happily playing with it, when suddenly he pushed it against my foot, me being annoyed I kicked it and I accidently kicked it to the box that I struck down earlier. Without questioning he tried to get the ball, yet he trapped himself in the box, I was a bit worried and a bit surprised but before I tried to help him he got himself out.

After he got out he was looking for the ball, he was very clumsy I thought , and giggled.

Later on, he saw the ball and he accidently pushed it, towards me, in that time I  became a bit calm and a bit happy, I got the ball and I also crutches, because I’m also disabled.

While getting them that dog was curious then a  soon as I stand up he happily barked. I walked with my dog outside and shouted “mum I’m going outside!”. Of I went with my clumsy new friend.

Learning Goals 2017!

For the past weeks our two teachers were deciding what our learning goals will be for this year. Yesterday my parents came to a meeting arranged by the teachers to talk about my learning goals. If you don't remember from last year this are goals about all of our subjects that we have to reach. I have much more studying and working to go, to reach all my goals but I will not give up, 😁. Any ways, Bye!

Cyber Smart / Safety!

Yesterday we went to the Hornby High School to see  John Parsons and listen to his tips about online safety. He taught us how to be safety online, some of the tips were, if you like to post a picture of someone, ask the person that you want to take a picture first, not posting embarrassing pictures of people etc. In all of the tips he taught us I liked his advise about the personal information the most.
So now I created a DLO about it. Thank you, John Parsons for the advise I found you really funny and smart. I hope you see this interesting too, Bye!
