What respecting belief and religion looks like at HHS?

This term, in Philosophy we've been looking at respect and it's value to the world and to HHS. Vann and I focused on Respect towards beliefs and religions.
It is important to respect each other, it keeps and binds the world together. Respect is the base and the most important within the values of HHS. Without respect, it would be impossible to love each other, and without it, fight and malevolence will take over. That's why we need to treasure and use that value always to keep the world intact and be kept to the way it is now.

How do we attract more people to look into your blog?

My question is: How do we attract more people to look into your blog? 

Answer: Make your blog more entertaining, perhaps you could create contents that are more relative to people or make your content easier to understand. Another is that you could share your blog with more people, share with your family and friends or post a link of it in a social media site and just let people know about your posts. Also, you could blog regularly and make your content visible to search engines as well.

Is that lava?!

Blobs in a Bottle         
Resources:
• A clean 1-litre clear soft drink bottle
• 3/4 cup of water                   
• Vegetable oil
• Antacid tablets (such as Quick-Eze or Mylanta)
• Food colouring
Procedure:
  1. Pour the water into the bottle.
  2. Use a measuring cup to slowly pour the vegetable oil into the bottle until it’s almost full. You may have to wait a few minutes for the oil and water to separate.
  3. Add 10 drops of food colouring to the bottle; the drops will pass through the oil and then mix with the water below.
  4. Break an antacid tablet in half and drop it into the bottle. Watch it sink to the bottom and watch the lava start to flow.
  5. To keep the effect going, just add another piece of antacid tablet.
Big questions:
  1. Does the temperature of the water affect the reaction? Yes, if for example, the water is much hotter the tables will dissolve much, much faster.
  2. Does the effect still work if the cap is put on the bottle? Yes.
  3. Does the size of the tablet pieces affect the number of blobs created? If the tablet is broken up into more smaller pieces they would be easier to dissolve than the ones that are now broken up.
  4. What is an oil spill and how do they happen? Oil spill is when liquid petroleum hydrocarbon is spilled into parts of water. The most common and main causes of this are  tankers, barges, pipelines, refineries, drilling rigs, and storage facilities.
  5. How do ice and water interact during an oil spill?  Oil booms are hindered by pack ice; the oil may be frozen and captured in growing ice or spread below a solid ice sheet.
  6. How does oil affect marine life during an oil spill?One of the reasons it's bad is because it contaminates the sea mammals food supply which in a long period of time would cause them to die.
Scientific Explanation (How it works):
The reaction of water and oil separating is caused by the density of both liquids. The oil is less dense than water; also the molecules of the water are more attracted to each other than it is of the oil and so it makes that reaction. When the tablet is dropped on the mixture, it will pass through the oil and into the water dissolving it in the process, creating gas which would try and escape to the atmosphere creating bubbles that would interfere with the food colouring creating the lava like effect.

The kid who got knocked down by a potato.

This term in Cyber smart we started to learn about smart footprints and keeping your private/personal info unknown in the online world. We also talked about how we could prevent or avoid being hacked. Also, if you or your parents have shared private/personal info we talked about what we should do. Here is the "Pick a path" story that we made that might help you to decide on what to do.

Sherbet Making

Sherbet recipe


1tsp of powdered drink crystals (eg refresh)
1/4 tsp citric acid
1/4 tsp tartaric acid
1/4 tsp -baking soda.

Put all ingredients into a zip lock bag, stir with a wooden stick and enjoy.

Evaluate:
Describe effect in mouth / tongue: The mixture fizzes and bubbles in your taste buds spreading the flavour of the powder through out. The mixture of acids creates this sensational mark that stays in your taste bud and creates the imaginative feeling of it melting. 
Fizzy, sweet, sour
Caused by acids and sugar

Taste: sweet, sour, 
Caused by tartaric acid, citric acid

Acidity / sweetness: It has the right amount of acidity, almost like eating lemon. The sweetness is also at the just right amount; the taste is not too acidic  nor too sweet as well.

Everything that happens on Earth depends on complex interactions between the Atmosphere, Biosphere, Lithosphere, and Hydrosphere. For examples of how Earth’s spheres interact you may use the “Treasure” sheet ​information about the interactions between the spheres and look at the descriptions of the images. 


Beside each interaction, write the names of the 2 spheres that are interacting.
