If I won the summer learning journey the prize that would excite me the most is probably a book (specifically an art book or a cooking book by "Gordon Ramsay")
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

SLJ: Summer Learning Journey
Hello, Emma
My name is Axle and I am from Hornby High School, some information about me is that one of my most favourite subjects is "morning tea (JK- but I do like it though)" actually, I don't really have any subjects that I don't like. I have a passion for writing, art and music; currently, I am trying to enhance my skills and broadening my knowledge in those topics. Watching movies are another favourite things that I like to do, I have a lot of favourites genres of movies and movies in general; some of my most favourite are the Marvel Movies(Rip. The king of cameos Stan Lee), POTC franchise and (not meant for children like me, but watched it anyway of course with parental guidance) "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest" featuring the legendary Jack Nicholson, which is one of my most favourite actors. How about you, do you have a favourite actor?

If I won the summer learning journey the prize that would excite me the most is probably a book (specifically an art book or a cooking book by "Gordon Ramsay")

Passion Projects: Discovery
As you may know, these past weeks we have been working on our passion projects which were explained in the previous blog post. The products that we started we kept a secret, now is the time for the reveal! Well at first we had two ideas we had in mind and it was on Monday, November 19 was the date that we started to practice making one of the two ideas. The one that we started was Burratta with mozzarella cheese sticks and PanDesSal; however, making the Buratta was a bit of a fail and it becomes too rubbery. After tasting it we decided that we will take the Buratta out and just make the cheese sticks and the PanDeSal; in that, we added mango puree in it to make it more fruity and "healthy".
Today in passion project we did the next dish(Panna Cotta) along with the ones that were practised on Monday. The ones that we practised on were pretty good and better than we did though, Khush(Which was a part of my group along with Vann and Ranit), forgot the mango puree! (It wasn't really a big deal). None the less the Panna Cotta turn out fine, yet it was too sweet(I can even taste it now after hours of tasting it). Now in the next session, we will be making the Panna Cotta not too sweet and also make KHUSH "remember" to bring the mango puree.
Here are some pictures and videos of the process of making those dishes:

Passion Projects
For this term, we started to do passion projects, in which on Mondays from period 3 and all of Thursdays we will be able to do projects about subjects that we are passionate about. We had to choose a category where that subject will be. There were several categories that we had to choose from; we had our first choice, second choice and third choice which were just for cases where the first choice that we've chosen were full. Luckily 3 of my friends has been put the category that I was put in as well and that is Discovery. It featured and the part of science from physics all the way to foods. Well being passionate about food and being from the "Culinary Capital of the Philippines" I lean towards food. Discussions were made and not long after my friends got intrigued by it as well.
Here is a log book to keep track of what we have and will have to do: Log Book
After some conversations and disputes, we decided to discover the world of mozzarella. Some creative thinking after we thought about making two dishes one a snack and one a dessert, however, the name of those dishes will be kept a secret.... for now.

A Google a day keeps the doctor away.
Today in cyber smart, we started to enhance our knowledge in using filters in many different kinds of ways for our search answer to be more accurate. This time we had to find out an amphibious invention that was made in 1932. Turns out it was an amphibious bicycle that is not used very much now. Finding out the answer wasn't that hard now. One of which reasons are, after some lessons in cyber smart we learnt how to shorten our questions and make them on point.
Here's what we found out:
Here's what we found out:
- It was man-powered
- Consist of 2 inflatable floats.
- it could fit in a backpack
- Similar to a paddle wheel
- Its speed is 1.12 m/s
- Was intended to become a walking machine.

PH Scale
Today in Science we learnt to understand the pH scale which is composed of Acids and Alkalines,
the different strengths of those chemicals and what they are made of in atomic measures.
the different strengths of those chemicals and what they are made of in atomic measures.
We had to complete two task which are shown below. For the second task we had to make a similar pH scale but it would need to include common chemicals that we do know.
Task 1
Complete the quiz below
Neutral solutions have a pH of 0 7 14
What colour represents neutral on the pH scale Blue Red Green
What is the range covered by the pH scale 0-14 -10 - 10 0-100
pH is a measure of _________ ions Oxygen Hydrogen Hydroxide
Acids and bases can combine to create water and salts True False
Which is not a property of a base Sour taste Bitter taste Slippery
There are a variety of strengths of acids and bases True False
Vinegar is an example of a Strong base Strong Acid Weak Acid
An acid’s pH is between 0-7 7-14 14-21
What is true when acids and bases neutralize each other;
Water is produced Salt is produced Both water and salt are produced
Does baking soda have a pH of 9? Explain your answer: you may not raise
No the alkalinity of baking soda above 8.4.
Task 2
Create a doc illustrating the pH scale.

2: Coca cola

3: Strawberries

Understanding Probability
This term, which is the final term of this year; we started focusing on probability. A part of maths where there are no exact answers and where it could go either way. But basically, it is where you look and see the changes of an event occurring. Learning probability was amazing, understanding it wasn't really hard; and once you get the hang of it is reasonably easy to do. Here is a DLO that I did to help you understand more of what probability is really about.

Who is Sir Peter Blake?
This week in Cybersmart we learnt about different researching tips. One of which is, if you want to define something you can use a technique where you can type "[define(the word you want)]". It's that easy. Then we learnt about stepping stones; where if you go from sites to sites to find further details but also making it as accurate as possible. Lastly, on we then had to take those tips that we've just learnt and research about a famous New Zealander named Sir Peter Blake and make a small biography about his life.
Here is the small biography:
