W.A.L.T Adding Decimals Using Compensation

W.A.L.T Adding Decimals Using Compensation

First let’s take a look at our question:
7.89 + 6.74 =

Now let’s think, what can we add to make this easier.
How about 0.01, to make the number 7.89 be 7.9.

Now here we have 7.9 and how about the other number 6.74.

Tip: If a number that you want to round up in this method you can take the number of and let it stay until you can put it in.

We can actually take the 0.04 out of the 6.74 to make it easier, so now we have 7.9 and 6.7.

Add them to together

 6.7
 7.9
1..46

Let’s take the 0.04 and add it in here, this would be 1.5 and now take out the 0.01 that we add, (Tip: if you add a number after you should take it out and if you took out a number you need to add it after)

And the answer is 1.49

My next step is: multiply decimals to two decimals places.
